Cost clarity

The lowest estimate is not always the lowest final cost

Two hospital estimates can differ by thousands of dollars simply because they include different things. Tonicvia's estimate review puts every proposal on the same terms before you compare numbers.

Every figure carries an estimate status

A number without a status is not usable for a decision. Every estimate in a Tonicvia report is marked with one of five statuses so the family knows how firm it is.

1

Illustrative public range

A general published range, not connected to any specific case. Useful for orientation only.

2

Hospital-provided preliminary estimate

Given by a hospital before reviewing the patient's records. Often changes after evaluation.

3

Hospital-provided case-specific estimate

Given after the hospital reviewed the patient's records. The most useful figure for comparison.

4

Revised estimate

An updated figure after new information — implant choice, room change, or additional findings.

5

Final hospital invoice

The actual amount billed at discharge. Tonicvia records the difference against the estimate.

Estimate versus final invoice

For coordinated cases, Tonicvia records the initial estimate, any revised estimates, and the final hospital invoice, together with the reason for any difference. This record helps families understand what changed and why — and builds an honest evidence base over time. Aggregate price-accuracy claims will only be published once enough verified cases exist.

Hospital estimates are prepared by hospitals and can change after medical evaluation, implant selection, ICU requirements, complications, or extended stay. Tonicvia does not set, control or guarantee hospital prices. Patients pay hospitals directly.
